01 Our story
The story of Protostar Labs started at the Astronomical Society Anonymus. We were a group of young engineers and scientists who shared a passion for space, but also for technology and science in general.
We developed the Supernova Search Project, a system analyzing thousands of nightly images to detect supernovas, at La Sagra Observatory in Spain from 2010 to 2013. This led to the discovery of 20 new supernovas, confirmed by the International Astronomical Union.
Utilizing computer vision technology to analyze astronomical images, we realized there is a huge potential for other applications in industry, and Protostar Labs was born.
From 2019, we are innovating in the area of computer vision and machine learning, with a mission to bridge the gap between the technological capabilities and real-world applications.
Today, we are an interdisciplinary team of engineers and scientists with expertise in computer vision, machine learning, physics, software engineering, and electronics. Together with our partners and clients, we push the limits of possible and try to make a positive impact on the world around us.

04 Advisory Board
As an internationally recognized expert in optical technology, Dubravko advises on optical design, light generation and detection, and spectral analysis. He is ranked among the top 2% scientists in the world in the field of optoelectronics and photonics and has been named inventor on 35 US patents. In addition, as a result of his industrial experience, Dubravko assists the Company with intellectual property protection.
As a Board Advisor for Compliance and Strategic Development, Luka brings a unique set of skills to Protostar Labs. Taking care of compliance with regulatory requirements, Luka ensures Protostar Labs operates smoothly and secure. Due to his vast experience across the industries, Luka also serves as an advisor for strategic company development topics.
Vlatko is a Senior Data Scientist with expertise in bioinformatics and complex real-world data analysis. With a strong background in scientific research and proven business skills, he offers valuable insights to our company. His expertise in machine learning, experimental design, proposal writing, and formal scientific research significantly contributes to our mission of driving innovation.
